Okinawa OKHI-90 First Look Review- Better Than Ola Or Ather?
In many ways it goes up against the Ola's and the Ather's of the electric scooter world and hence has to make a solid first impression.
New Delhi: The electric scooter market has taken off in a big way and new ones are coming in almost everyday. The latest launch is the Okinawa Okhi-90 electric scooter. Here is a quick look at this new electric scooter.
In many ways it goes up against the Ola's and the Ather's of the electric scooter world and hence has to make a solid first impression.
The design though is not as aggressive as the Ola and is pretty subtle but there are details which stand out like the 16 inch wheels and these big wheels adds to the looks along with better cushioning against our roads plus more ground clearance.
In comparison, the Ola S1 wheels are much smaller in size. That said, there is chrome and LED lighting which is also a nice touch. There are four colour options too.
The scooter is being aimed as a more practical choice with a bigger 40 litre boot capacity while features list includes turn by turn navigation, keyless navigation, OTA updates, geo fencing, USB charging, smartphone connectivity etc. There is an Okinawa Connect app as well.
Let's talk power and range because Ola made waves for its power for the S1 Pro while the Okinawa focuses again on more range. There is a 3.6kWh lithium-ion battery and a 3.8kW motor. The top speed is 90kmph in sports mode while it is 60kmph in eco mode.
The Ola scooter is much faster though and still wins it in the power and speed wars. In range terms, the Okhi-90 has a figure of 160km claimed range and that is better than Ather while less than Ola.
Okinawa is giving a three year warranty on the battery while charging would be near 4 hours for a full charge.
The prices drop due to FAME-II subsidies and that means you can get one for Rs 1.03 lakh in Delhi- much lower than the Rs 1.21 lakh.
That makes it more competitive than the Ola S1 Pro or the Ather 450X while the good amount of features/practicality and range makes it a good alternative to the current electric scooters but actual range/performance in the real world will matter in this scooter making an impact.
