Hyundai To Expand SUV Line-Up With An Affordable Micro SUV

The Casper is a bit small and expensive now the new SUV has been developed for our market which will fulfil that niche.

New Delhi: Hyundai wants to increase its SUV range in India and will fill the micro SUV category with a new product below the Venue. However, it won't be the Casper small SUV but a new product developed especially for India and would be its most affordable SUV. The Casper is too small and too expensive hence, a new SUV has been developed for our market which will fulfil that niche.

Currently, the micro SUV space is occupied by cars like the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger while another SUV below the Venue gives Hyundai another option in this lucrative space. These micro SUVs are selling more than premium hatchbacks since the SUV styling and the concept of a high-riding vehicle are quite appealing to the buyer. The micro SUV from Hyundai has been developed for India and will feature Hyundai styling cues but in a smaller package.

We expect the styling to be having design details like the split headlamp treatment and other funky design elements to appeal to the younger car buyer. The SUV would be shorter than the Venue and the i20 premium hatchback.

As with any Hyundai, expect a feature-packed cabin with a touchscreen, connected car tech and other features.

The micro SUV would most likely share engines with the Nios including a 1.2ll petrol engine and a 1.0l turbo while we may even get a CNG variant as well. The upcoming new SUV is just one of the various products planned by Hyundai including the new generation Verna.

This segment of cars is aimed at first-time car buyers and with this Hyundai plans to increase its positioning further within the sub-Rs 10 lakh space. The main competitor of this upcoming Hyundai micro SUV would be the Punch mainly and the price range is expected to be similar to that.
