Citroen Basalt Vs Tata Curvv Petrol Specifications

The Curvv looks bigger and wider with larger 18-inch alloy wheels plus details like the flush door handles

As two new coupe SUVs clash, we will look at the specifications of the most affordable version of the Tata Curvv vs the Citroen Basalt. The Basalt would be at the starting range when it comes to compact SUVs above the 4m and it will lock horns with the entry level petrol Tata Curvv. The Basalt petrol will get a 1.2l turbo unit which is already available with the C3 Aircross while it will also get a cheaper naturally aspirated unit. The turbo petrol engine develops 110bhp and 210Nm of torque while it will get a 6-speed manual as standard plus a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, while the naturally aspirated engine will be manual only.

The Curvv in its entry level avatar will get a 1.2l turbo which is available in the Nexon and it develops 120bhp and 170Nm. While like the Basalt, there would be a 6-speed manual at the start for the Tata Curvv, the automatic would be a 7-speed DCT with paddle shifters as also seen on the Nexon. There would be diesel and a much more powerful new turbo petrol in the Curvv as well but that could be price wise positioned higher than the Basalt. In red, both SUVs look appealing with a sloping roofline but the details are different.

Citroen Basalt Vs Tata Curvv Petrol Specifications

The Curvv looks bigger and wider with larger 18-inch alloy wheels plus details like the flush door handles. The Basalt looks more compact but is striking too with the Citroen face with sharply cut lines while it gets old-school pull-type handles. The Basalt price wise would be positioned lower than the Curvv but the entry level variants of the Curvv could match with the Basalt's pricing with the 1.2l turbo petrol. Citroen will price the Basalt aggressively and it is their most important product yet while the same can be said for the Curvv which aims to plug a gap above the Nexon in the Tata Motors portfolio.
