BMW has launched the new iX1 which is the electric version of the X1 SUV. The X1 has been hugely popular while not it also expands the i electric range in being the most affordable electric SUV. The rival to the iX1 is the Volvo XC40 Recharge which is the only other luxury EV within that price range. Let us take a look at how they compare.
Which Car Has More Range?
The XC40 Recharge has a 78kWh battery pack which has a claimed range of 418km. The iX1 meanwhile has a 66.4kWh battery pack and has a claimed range of 440km. In terms of power, both are fast with a dual motor layout with the iX1 developing 313hp and 494Nm. The Volvo on the other hand has 408hp and 660Nm of torque.
Which Car Has More Features?
Both are luxury SUVs with ample features with the iX1 having front massage seats, two-zone climate control, a Harmon Kardon sound system with 12 speakers, a panoramic sunroof, Adaptive LED Headlights, Active Seats, Adaptive M Suspension, Digital Key and a reversing assistant. The Volvo XC40 Recharge has a Google-based Android system, a panoramic sunroof, a Harman Kardon sound system, powered seats, and more.
The iX1 also gets Driver Assistance Systems with Lane Departure Warning, Cruise Control with Braking Function, Automatic Emergency Braking Pedestrian Protection, etc. The XC40 Recharge has ADAS Level 2 features with adaptive cruise and more too.
Price?
The BMW iX1 is priced at Rs 66.9 lakh while the XC40 Recharge comes in at Rs 56.9 lakh. The Volvo is assembled here and BMW can also assemble the iX1 later to reduce prices further as it currently does with the petrol/diesel X1. These two new electric luxury SUVs form a new segment at this price point while also proving to be an alternative to conventional luxury SUVs.
