Rules To follow If You Have Tulsi Plant At Home:

  • Avoid Darkness: Never keep the Tulsi plant in the dark. After sunset, always light a lamp near the Tulsi plant to ensure it receives indirect light.
  • Open Space: Place the Tulsi plant in an open area where it receives direct sunlight regularly.
  • Respect Fallen Leaves: Never discard dry Tulsi leaves or twigs. Wash them and return them to the soil around the Tulsi plant.
  • Replace Dried Tulsi: If the Tulsi plant dries up, do not keep it in the house. It is believed that keeping dried Tulsi brings poverty and misfortune.
  • Consider Directions: Pay attention to the directions while planting Tulsi. Avoid placing it in the south or southeast direction, considered the direction of fire. Tulsi should always be placed in the north or northeast direction.
  • Use a Pot: Always plant Tulsi in a pot; avoid planting it directly in the ground. Even after sunset, refrain from plucking Tulsi leaves.
  • Sunday Rituals: Do not offer water to Tulsi on Sundays. It is considered inauspicious to pluck Tulsi leaves on this day.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure the area around the Tulsi plant is always clean. Avoid placing thorny plants near Tulsi.
  • Gentle Handling: When plucking Tulsi leaves, use your fingers and never cut them with a knife or scissors. Only pluck them when necessary.
  • Avoid Touching Unnecessarily: Refrain from touching or plucking Tulsi leaves without taking a bath. Leaves touched or plucked without bathing are not considered acceptable in worship.
