Ambati Rayudu Quits YSRCP Within 10 Days Of Joining Party, Announces Break From Politics

Ambati Rayudu joined YSRCP in the presence of CM Jagan Mohan Reddy 10 days ago.

Days after joining YSRCP Party in Andhra Pradesh, former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu announced his decision to quit the party and stay out of politics for a while. He also said that he would convey his further actions in the course of time. The middle-order batsman joined YSRCP in the presence of CM Jagan Mohan Reddy 10 days ago.

Taking to X, Ambati Rayudu said, "This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time. Thank You."

Last month, CM Jagan Reddy inducted Rayudu into his party by putting a YSRCP scarf around his neck and embracing him.

YSRCP on their official social media handle posted, “Famous Indian cricketer Ambati Tirupati Rayudu joined the YSR Congress Party in the presence of Chief Minister Shri YS Jagan at the CM Camp office. Deputy CM Narayana Swamy and MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy participated in this program."

At the time of joining the party, Rayudu was expected to contest from Gutur or Machilipatnam in YSRCP ticket in the upcoming elections. However, Rayudu has denied such claims.

Upon retiring from cricket, Rayudu expressed his desire to venture into politics. Having been a prominent figure in the Indian cricket team, participating in international tournaments and the Indian Premier League (IPL), he also contributed to various state cricket organizations. Originally from Andhra Pradesh, the 37-year-old former cricketer officially retired after the 2023 IPL season.
