Trump jokingly blames US intelligence for White House power cut

Washington DC, [USA] July 18 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump has mocked that the US intelligence agencies are responsible for a temporary power cut while he made a White House statement reaffirming his support for the same.

"Let me begin by saying that once again, full faith and support for America's intelligence agencies. I have a full faith in our intelligence agencies," the Hill quoted Trump as saying, just moments prior to the power cut.

"Oops they just turned off the light. That must be the intelligence agencies," Trump joked.

The reason behind the power cut is still not clear.

Trump's comments came few days after he endorsed his Russian President Vladimir Putin's stance on Russia's non-involvement in the 2016 US presidential election, insisting that he ran a clean campaign.

Addressing a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki after their summit, Trump had said that there was "zero collusion" and that he ran a "clean campaign."

The US President had also mentioned that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign was "a disaster for our country," while also saying that it had negatively impacted US-Russia relations.

Later, Trump appeared to backtrack on his remarks as he said that he has "great confidence" in his people from the intelligence community. (ANI)
