Shinzo Abe congratulates Nepal President Bhandari

Tokyo [Japan], Mar. 21 (ANI): Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday congratulated Nepal's re-elected President Bidya Devi Bhandari on her victory in Nepal's presidential elections while assuring Japan's support for consolidating democracy in Nepal.

Abe said, "Japan welcomes Nepal's progress towards consolidating democracy following the first elections of the Federal Parliament and Provincial Assemblies held last December and this February under the new constitution".

He further mentioned the project 'Build Back Better' which had been initiated by United Nations Development Project to help the nation to reconstruct post-earthquake.

Nepal had been provided assistance under this project along with Japan to help them in rebuilding projects post massive earthquakes.

"I look forward to actively cooperating with President Bhandari to further the long-standing friendly ties between our two countries", he added.

President Bhandhari sworn-in as Nepal's President on March 14 while Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun was re-elected on March 19. (ANI)
