Weather Update: Northern India Battles Severe Floods and Cloudbursts Amid Heavy Rains | ABP NEWS
Heavy rains and severe weather conditions have caused widespread flooding and disruption across northern India. In Uttarakhand’s Harshal and Dharali, continuous downpours have raised the Bhagirathi River’s water levels, forcing authorities to evacuate residents living along the riverbanks to safer locations. The army and NDRF teams are closely monitoring the situation to prevent disaster. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh faced a devastating cloudburst in Shimla, where floods washed away houses, bridges, and damaged infrastructure, leading to panic and mass evacuations. Roads and communication lines have been severely affected, isolating several villages, while local authorities work to restore connectivity and ensure safety. In Kinnaur, a sudden cloudburst trapped five road construction workers in floodwaters, but rescue operations are underway. Similarly, Lahaul-Spiti is grappling with swollen rivers and flooded bridges disrupting daily life and transport. Delhi and Gurugram have also been hit by heavy rains causing severe waterlogging, threatening major traffic disruptions and urban flooding if the rains continue. In Ladakh’s Leh region, a flash flood trapped tourists and residents, creating hazardous conditions. In urban incidents, Bengaluru saw a deliberate bike arson attack captured on CCTV, while Kolkata’s Salt Lake area experienced a tragic car fire resulting in a delivery boy’s death and violent clashes between locals and police. In Hyderabad, a man fell into a deep well but was rescued alive by locals using quick thinking and teamwork.
