Wayanad Rescue Operation Ongoing, Landslide Death Toll Reaches 151 | ABP News
In Wayanad, Kerala, early Tuesday morning, heavy rainfall triggered landslides that resulted in at least 126 deaths and 128 injuries. By the end of the day’s rescue operations, over 800 people had been safely evacuated, but the death toll may rise due to fears of many being trapped under debris. The landslides destroyed homes, caused rivers to overflow, and uprooted trees, leaving residents with no chance to escape. The army, navy, and NDRF are conducting rescue efforts amid severe weather, with multiple agencies collaborating to provide aid. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reported that the bodies of the deceased are being identified and handed to families. Rahul Gandhi, former MP from Wayanad, may visit the area soon.
