Waqf Bill: ‘Constitution Being Mocked’ – Imran Masood’s Strong Opposition to Amendment

Congress leader Imran Masood has voiced strong opposition to the Waqf Amendment Bill, stating that the bill is a blatant violation of constitutional principles. Speaking ahead of the parliamentary discussion, Masood said he is prepared to debate the bill in the House but firmly believes that it undermines the rights of minorities.According to Masood, the amendments proposed in the bill are an attempt to weaken the Waqf system and could lead to increased government intervention in the management of Waqf properties. He alleged that the move is not just a legal reform but a direct attack on the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution. The Waqf Amendment Bill is set to be presented in the Lok Sabha today by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, with a heated debate expected. Opposition parties, including the Congress, have already expressed their firm resistance, arguing that the bill is politically motivated and targets Muslim institutions. With tensions rising, the parliamentary session is likely to witness significant disruptions and protests.
