Mahakumbh 2025: 44th Day Marks Surge in Devotees Ahead of Mahashivaratri, Major Arrangements in Place
Today marks the 44th day of the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, with millions of devotees from across the country flocking to the holy city to take a sacred dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. So far, over 63 crore pilgrims have participated in the ritual of taking a holy dip in the Sangam. With Maha Shivaratri approaching tomorrow, the number of devotees arriving for the occasion is expected to rise significantly. In preparation for the large influx of pilgrims, the administration has made extensive arrangements. From 4 PM today, the mela area will be designated as a no-vehicle zone, and entry into Prayagraj city will be restricted from 6 PM onwards. Only vehicles providing essential services will be allowed entry. Authorities have also appealed to the devotees to avoid going directly to Sangam and instead take a dip at the nearest ghats to avoid overcrowding. The 12-kilometer stretch of the Mahakumbh area, particularly the Sangam ghats, will be the focus of the ritual, with the administration urging pilgrims to follow this guideline to ensure safety and convenience. As the final bath approaches on Maha Shivaratri, the spiritual fervor is palpable in the city, and the streets are filled with devotees eager to immerse themselves in the holy waters.
