Bulldozer Action in Delhi’s Kalkaji After HC Order, Illegal Constructions Demolished Peacefully
A major demolition drive was carried out in Delhi's Kalkaji area following a Delhi High Court order to remove illegal constructions. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA), with assistance from the police and additional security forces, deployed five bulldozers to raze unauthorized structures. The action targeted jhuggis and other constructions built illegally on government land. The demolition took place under heavy security to avoid any unrest. Local residents, many of whom had been living in the area for years, expressed distress, claiming they had nowhere else to go. Some said they had received eviction notices earlier from the DDA, asking them to vacate by June 10. A few families managed to retrieve belongings before the bulldozers began operations, while others watched helplessly as their homes turned to rubble.Officials stated that the structures were built without legal permissions and had to be cleared as part of an urban redevelopment plan. Visuals from the site showed debris scattered across the area and police personnel maintaining order. The demolition was carried out smoothly without significant resistance or clashes. This action marks another instance of strict enforcement against illegal encroachments in Delhi’s urban zones.
