Breaking: Rumour About Imam Bara Reopening Triggers Crowd Gathering in Dhar

A tense situation briefly emerged in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, after rumours spread that an Imam Bara had been granted permission to reopen ahead of Muharram. Following the circulation of the claim, a large number of people from the local Muslim community gathered near the site, leading to sloganeering and a period of unrest that lasted for nearly an hour. According to officials, the confusion arose after a court hearing related to the Imam Bara. Rumours falsely suggested that the court had allowed the site to be opened for six days in view of Muharram observances. However, authorities later clarified that no such order had been issued. The court had only scheduled the next hearing for June 25. Police and administrative officials stationed at the location intervened promptly, appealed for calm, and persuaded the crowd to disperse peacefully. The situation was eventually brought under control without any major incident. Authorities have urged citizens to verify information before acting on social media messages or unconfirmed reports to prevent unnecessary tension and public disorder.
