Breaking: Murshidabad Communal Violence Sparks Exodus, Hindu Families Flee to Malda Amid Fear and Devastation

In West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, communal violence has sparked a major crisis, leading to the exodus of several Hindu families. Following the brutal killing of three individuals in the region, fear and panic gripped the area, prompting families to flee across the Bhagirathi River into neighboring Malda district. According to local officials, hundreds of displaced people have taken shelter in government-arranged facilities like schools, with provisions for food and safety. Eyewitnesses report that during the riots, shops and homes of Hindus were specifically targeted, looted, and destroyed, while Muslim-owned establishments remained untouched. One affected shopkeeper claimed to have lost goods worth over ₹50 lakh, and lamented the lack of timely police response despite repeated calls. Security has been intensified with the deployment of multiple CRPF companies, and internet services have been suspended to prevent the spread of rumors. As of now, 150 people have been arrested in connection with the violence. State BJP president and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar is scheduled to meet the victims, while CRPF and BSF officials have arrived at the affected areas to monitor the situation. Meanwhile, West Bengal minister Siddikullah Chowdhury alleged that outsiders and possibly BJP workers were involved in the unrest, claiming the deaths occurred due to BSF firing.
