Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Pledges To Plant 3 Crore Saplings Under 'Amrit Brikshya Andolan'

On August 1, 2024, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched an ambitious environmental initiative by planting saplings in Guwahati as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, which is integrated into the broader 'Amrit Brikshya Andolan'. This campaign is a significant component of the state's efforts to combat deforestation and promote ecological sustainability. During the event, Sarma outlined the scale and goals of the initiative, announcing that the state plans to plant an impressive 3 crore (30 million) saplings within a span of just 20 days, from August 1 to August 20. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of this campaign in reinforcing the state’s commitment to environmental conservation and enhancing green cover across Assam. In his address to the media, Sarma expressed optimism about the impact of the initiative, highlighting its potential to foster greater environmental awareness and contribute to the fight against climate change.
