Amid protests over the Centre’s new recruitment policy for the Armed forces, Lt General Anil Puri, the Additional Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs, said that the main motive behind implementing the Agnipath scheme was to bring in more youth into the forces. “This reform was long pending. We want to bring youthfulness and experience with it. Today, a large number of jawans are in their 30s and officers are getting command much later than in the past,” he added.
