Mahalaxmi Express Rescue: Maharashtra govt asks IAF to airlift the stranded passengers
Mumbai-Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Express has been stranded due to very heavy downpour in the area since early Saturday morning. It is reported that there are around 700 passengers on board and so far, 117 people (female and children) have been rescued. Teams of NRDF and Indian Navy were sent into action for the rescue operation.
Earlier, after a request from the Maharashtra government, eight flood rescue teams from Navy including 3 diving teams mobilised with rescue material, inflatable boats & life jackets were sent to the location.
