Commuters in Gaya travel in fear over poor condition of bridges in the district
This sign warns commuters of the danger that the bridge they are about to get on, poses. There are several ageing bridges in Gaya that connect the two states of Bihar and Jharkhand. For daily commuters and drivers of heavy duty vehicles, crossing one of these bridges is a matter of great concern. Crossing these structurally deficient bridges is dangerous as they are almost a hundred years old. With multiple cracks in the structure and potholes on the surface, many bridges on National Highway 2, passing through the Sherghati subdivision of Gaya, are in a dilapidated condition and are crying for immediate attention from the authorities.
