Farmers are destroying their standing crops following an appeal from Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait. During one of the Kisan Mahapanchayat, Tikait had urged farmers to give importance to the agitation and, if need be, destroy their crops.

However, Tikait has now requested farmers against 'taking this extreme step right now'.
