Caught On Camera: Passenger Pushed Out Of Moving Train In Bengal's Birbhum

The Government's Railway Police (GRP) has arrested one person following the incident.

New Delhi: In a video going viral on internet, a man was seen being pushed from a moving train in West Bengal's Birbhum district, as reported by news agency PTI. The incident took place in Howrah-Malda Town Intercity Express between Tarapith Road and Rampurhat station in Birbhum district on Saturday. The Government's Railway Police (GRP) has arrested one person following the incident and officials believe that some more people were also involved in this.

Police have identified the youth who was thrown from the moving train as Sajal Sheikh, who is accused of abusing and threatening other co-passengers, including women, was rescued from the tracks in an injured condition, according to PTI.

The police also said that Sajal put her foot on the seat of other passengers and after intimidating other passengers, followed up with some people on the phone.

When the video starts, it is seen that a man wearing a check shirt is fighting with Sajal. After a few seconds, the two seem to have ended their tussle but the verbal argument continues.

After this the man said something that made the co-traveller very angry and he stood up from his seat and started fighting.

The man claimed he was thrown out of the train when he protested the alleged misbehaviour of fellow passengers, as reported by NDTV.

"I was on my way home. Three-four people were sitting in the train compartment and chatting among themselves. They were making lewd comments. There was a family sitting next to them too, so I went to tell them not to behave like that. That was my mistake," said Sheikh.

"There was one person among them who got up and caught me by the collar and threatened me. I took out a blade from my pocket to scare him. The next thing I know I am on the rail tracks. I didn't even realise how suddenly it happened. I passed out for a while... when I came to my senses, I found myself lying on the rail line... my hands, legs, head were all numb because of the pain," he added.
