Watch: AIIMS Doctor Dr Titiyal Bids Teary Farewell After 46 Years Of Service

Dr. Jeevan Singh Titiyal, a renowned ophthalmologist from AIIMS, Delhi, retired after 46 years of distinguished service.

It is not easy to bid good-bye to your professional journey, especially when you passionately worked to serve the people of the country. Exactly such was the case for Dr Jeevan Singh Titiyal, a well-known and celebrated opthalmologist, who recently retired from AIIMS, Delhi.

A video of Dr Titiyal’s farewell has gone viral on social media, showing him teary-eyed, while signing-off from his long-drawn medical career. The video has now garnered over millions of views. In the video, Dr Titiyal was shown wearing his hospital scrubs and walking through a crowd of his collegues, with all of them clapping for him, as they bid farewell to him. He was also seen hugging several of his teammates The legendary AIIMS doctor drew curtains to his professional journey after 46 years of service. He is known as the first Indian doctor who performed live cornea transplant surgery successfully.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called Dr Titiyal on the day of the latter's retirement. CM Dhami in a post on X (Formerly Twitter) wrote, "I called Pithoragarh resident and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Jeevan Titiyal on the occasion of his retirement from AIIMS and wished him well. Dr. Titiyal's dedicated service as an ophthalmologist has played an important role in giving a new direction to health services."

Social media users also poured tributes on the retirement of Dr Titiyal. One user wrote, "A person who can cry like a baby is purest of hearts! Also shows how he loves his work and the people there, Grand salute to this legend."

Another user, wrote, "Dr. Jeevan Singh Titiyal dedicated his life to humanity and service. By serving at Delhi AIIMS for years, he made the medical field proud. His simplicity and dedication are an inspiration to all of us. We are all proud of him"

Dr Titiyal, who left behind a legacy of dedication and service to countrymen, was awarded with Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honour, in 2014, for his extraordinary contributions to the field of medicine.
