‘Sholay to Shol-AI’: Amitabh Bachchan-Dharmendra’s Classic Gets AI Makeover, Goes Viral on Social Media

A reimagined AI version of the iconic film Sholay, featuring humorous twists and unexpected changes, has gone viral on social media, sparking debate over the creative and ethical use of AI.

In an era where artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping creative landscapes, a reimagined version of the iconic Indian film Sholay has sparked widespread buzz on social media. This AI-driven reinterpretation introduces imaginative twists to the film’s legendary scenes, offering a mix of humor and surprise.

Among the most striking changes is the portrayal of Thakur, originally played by Sanjeev Kumar. In the AI-modified version, Thakur does not suffer the tragic loss of his hands at the hands of Gabbar Singh. Instead, Gabbar surprises everyone by warmly embracing Thakur—a drastic departure from the original film’s intense narrative.

Perhaps the most unconventional twist is reserved for Jaya Bachchan’s Radha. The AI version reimagines her lighting a cigarette instead of a lantern, turning an iconic and poignant moment into a bold reinterpretation.

The video, shared by a user on X with the caption, “Sholay but every frame is cursed,” has gone viral, amassing over 700,000 views. Reactions have been varied, with many finding the comedic take thoroughly entertaining. However, some viewers raised concerns about the potential misuse of AI technology in altering beloved classics.

Another memorable alteration involves Basanti, who is no longer dancing before dacoits. Instead, she performs for a group of dogs, adding a playful spin to Dharmendra’s Veeru’s famous line. Additionally, the iconic friendship anthem, “Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge,” receives a modern touch, depicting Amitabh Bachchan’s Jai casually holding a smartphone.

This playful reimagining of Sholay underscores the evolving role of AI in the entertainment industry. While it demonstrates the technology’s potential for creativity, it also raises questions about its ethical boundaries. As the debate unfolds, the viral video continues to entertain and provoke thought in equal measure.

Users Reaction to the Viral Post

One of the users said "Lmao I died when the kuttas appeared in front of Basanti dancing."

Another users said, "Cancel AI please Great creativity."

"Even Gabbar's laughter would be haunted!," said a third one.
