Just A Mumbai Thing! Twitter User Shares ‘Bhaji-Wala Bill’ She Got On A Film Script Page

A Twitter user named ‘Deepti DCunha’ has shared a vegetable bill written on the flip side of a film script page.

New Delhi: Mumbai is called ‘the city of dreams’ - people come to this city with big dreams and plans for their future. Being the film capital of India, many of these dreams are of a successful career in Bollywood. From aspiring actors to directors to script writers – the city has people hustling every day to get a chance or make a mark in an industry that is one of the toughest to get in.

On one hand, there are success stories of Shah Rukh Khan, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, and many other outsiders, on the other, city often gives glimpses of many aspiring actors waiting outside agencies and productions houses, writers giving their scripts to production houses with a hope of seeing it as a film one day. While a few scripts do see the light of the day, many are just treated as junk. A recent viral tweet is one such example.

A Twitter user named ‘Deepti DCunha’ shared a vegetable bill written on the flip side of a film script page. She wrote, “You so know you live in #Versova when the Bhaji-wala bill comes written on the flip side of a film script page. Repurposing of a film draft #Mumbai.”

The user mentions that since her vegetable vendor is from Tamil Nadu the bill is in Tamil. The tweet got netizens' attention and the discussion that followed the post is quite interesting. While a user felt bad for a script of an aspiring writer being treated as ‘raddi’, Deepti had an optimist lookout and wanted to believe it to be an early draft of the script that saw the light of the day and was made into a film.

A user in the same thread shared an older post of the same nature, where sev puri was wrapped in a film script.

Going by the discussion that followed in this post, it seems getting street food wrapped in film script/screenplay is a common occurrence in Versova.

Imagining the number of screenplays or first drafts of the script production houses get every day, we can’t actually blame production houses for it.
