In a heart-stopping stunt, a man named Josh proposed to his girlfriend during a party atop a building. Pretending to lose his balance, he "fell" off the edge, only to land on a safety balloon below, where huge banners read, "Will you marry me?" His girlfriend's terror turned to joy as she realised the whole thing was an elaborate (and risky) ruse.

This has been a trend for some time as couples choose to take to the deep blue to propose their love. In 2020, Turkish couple Halil Yilmaz and Muge Hasanbas got engaged in 2020 in Turkey. There have been many such underwater proposals.

In 2019, a similar stunt went awry when American man Steven Weber attempted to propose to his girlfriend, Kenesha Antoine, underwater on a holiday in Tanzania. Weber and Antoine booked an underwater cabin and he proposed to her from outside the cabin by diving into the water. But he never emerged from the depths.
