Indian-Origin Man In Singapore Wins Over Rs 8 Crore In Jewellery Store Lucky Draw
Chithambaram, a project engineer who has been working in Singapore for 21 years was shocked when he got the call.
An Indian-origin man's became a millionaire overnight after he won $1 million (over Rs 8 crore) after participating in a lucky draw. Balasubramanian Chithambaram who lives in Singapore won the grand prize in a draw organised by Mustafa Jewellery.
The Mustafa Jewellery is in the Little India district in Singapore, where Chithambaram spent $6,000 on gold chains for his wife about three months ago. The draw, part of the store's annual event, was conducted at the Civil Service Club @ Tessensohn. Any customer who spent anywhere over $250 was eligible for the lucky draw, the store’s website said.
Chithambaram, a project engineer who has been working in Singapore for 21 years was shocked when he got a call from the host about the good news. Speaking through tears on a video call after receiving the news, Chithambaram expressed disbelief and gratitude. “Today is also my father’s fourth death anniversary. It’s a blessing,” he said.
He also said that he plans to share the good news with his mother and donate a part of the money to the community as a token for the years he spent working in the country.
Earlier this year, a man suffered a heart attack in Singapore while celebrating his 3.2 million pounds (Rs 33,76,45,600) jackpot in a casino. The incident happened at the Marina Bay Sands Casino. He was a regular visitor of the casino, he was overwhelmed after he won the life-changing amount. During his celebration, the man suddenly fell to the floor suffering a heart attack. In several social media posts, it was said that the man had died but the casino staff later clarified that it was false news and that the man was alive and recovering in the hospital.
The casino is owned and operated by Las Vegas Sands, a Nevada-based company pulling revenues of $10.4 billion last year.
