Christen Weds Pawan: Swedish Woman Flies To UP To Marry Facebook Friend
According to Hindu customs, Christen Liebert married Pawan Kumar at Prema Devi School in Awagarh, Etah.
A Swedish woman travelled to India to marry a man from Uttar Pradesh she met on Facebook, news agency ANI reported. According to Hindu customs, Christen Liebert married Pawan Kumar at Prema Devi School in Awagarh, Etah.
Christen was dressed in traditional Indian attire and jewellery in photos and videos provided by ANI. The woman allegedly met Pawan on Facebook 10 years ago. She also participated in the varmala ritual, placing the garland around her husband's neck.
In 2012, the pair became Facebook friends and spoke via phone and video conversations. Their friendship grew into love over time. Pawan allegedly met Christen in Agra a year ago. They chose to marry after viewing the Taj Mahal together.
According to ANI, Christen stated that she loves India and is extremely pleased with her marriage.

Pawan is an engineer who graduated from Dehradun with a B. Tech. His family had no objections to his marriage to a foreigner. Geetam Singh, Pawan's father, stated that they would be pleased if the children were happy. "We completely support this marriage," Geetam told ANI.
A teenage girl from Pakistan was caught last week for allegedly faking her identity and unlawfully living in Bengaluru in another case of online love. According to Whitefield DCP S Girish, a 26-year-old guy named Mulayam Singh Yadav — a native of Uttar Pradesh who works as a security guard in Bengaluru — met the girl from Pakistan's Hyderabad through the online game app Ludo.
“He asked her to come to Bengaluru so they could get married. They made a plan to bring her over to India through Nepal in September 2022,” the DCP stated.
According to the authorities, the couple married in Nepal and then illegally entered India. According to the authorities, they were residing in the labourer quarters within the boundaries of the Bellandur police station.
“She has been handed over to the FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Office), and a case is filed against the man. He has been arrested,” the DCP added.
