A Microsoft engineer in Bengaluru was found driving an auto-rickshaw on weekends to combat loneliness, drawing reactions on social media.

An X user shared the picture of the Bengaluru techie driving an auto-rickshaw in Koramangala. The engineer, seen wearing his company hoodie while driving, has ignited debates about the need for social interaction in high-pressure careers.

Venkatesh Gupta, a tech professional, posted the photo of the engineer on his social media handle X, saying, "Met a 35-year-old staff software engineer at Microsoft in Koramangala driving Namma Yatri to combat loneliness on weekends."

Response From Social Media Users

The post on social media has received various responses with some users expressing empathy for the engineer, while others claiming that he might be an auto driver wearing a 'donated hoodie.'

"There is a breakdown of interpersonal bonds in present times. The fast pace of life coupled with rising stress in various facets of a person’s daily ”existence” has driven people apart instead of bringing them together. Digital world has further made us emotional islands, " a user wrote.

Another user noted, "It's a very good Idea. There are many people battling loneliness and just want to do monotonous jobs. People facing such issues will only understand. It's not about having good company or something.. it's sometimes keeping the mind active & away from usual life."

The next netizen responded in sarcasm and said, "Staff software engineer??? At microsoft??? Driving auto??? Dude earns enough money to combat loneliness in tons of other ways. I'm 110% sure this dude is here to find a bride for himself with this impressive story. Too much family pressure to get married I guess."

"If it’s true, it’s really cool! It’s absolutely fine to be riding autos/ driving taxis. I’ve met really good folks abroad who run good businesses yet drive uber whenever free. The reason being, they simply like driving, meeting new people & they do not do it for the money, " another one wrote.
