Telangana Govt Spent Rs 1.2 lakh Crore On Infra Between 2014 To 2023: K T Rama Rao

Releasing the annual report of MUDA, KTR said this amount is 4.62 times higher than the Rs 26,211.5 crore spent by the previous government between 2004 and 2014.

The Telangana government has invested over Rs 1.21 lakh crore between 2014 and 2023 from the Municipal Administration and Urban Development department for infrastructure and capital investment in Hyderabad and other urban areas, said IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao on Wednesday. Releasing the annual report of MUDA, he said this amount is 4.62 times higher than the Rs 26,211.5 crore spent by the previous government between 2004 and 2014.

Out of the total infrastructure spending of Rs 1,21,294 crore during 2014-23, the state government contributed Rs 1,11,360 crore (91.8 percent), while the remaining Rs 9,934 crore (8.2 percent) was the Centre's share, he further said.

Speaking further, the minister said that the Strategic Urban Road Development (SRDP) programme was initiated to establish conflict-free corridors on major traffic-bearing roads and increase the average speed from 15 to 35 kilometres per hour in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and surrounding areas.

Under the SRDP, a total of 48 works were undertaken at a cost of Rs 8,052.92 crore. Among these, 35 works have been completed at a cost of Rs 3,629.93 crore, while the remaining 13 works are still in progress, costing Rs 4,422.99 crore, he added.

Additionally, the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Project (CRMP) identified 930 kilometres of important major arterial roads in Hyderabad. These roads have been handed over to private infrastructure agencies through an open bid process for a five-year maintenance period, during which these entities will be responsible for all maintenance-related issues, Rama Rao said further.

On Monday, Minister KTR inaugurated the Microchip Technology India design and development centre at Kokapet. Microchip Technology Incorporated, a company headquartered in Arizona, is a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog, and Flash-IP solutions. They also offer excellent technical support.

After the launch, Minister KTR extended his congratulations to the leadership of Microchip and assured them of complete support from the government of Telangana. He emphasized the importance of having a strong workforce to establish India's presence in the semiconductor industry.

Acknowledging that India is currently in the early stages compared to established semiconductor ecosystems, KTR expressed confidence that India would take the lead in the next decade, with Hyderabad playing a significant role in that progress.
