Telangana Government Declares Two-Day Rain Holiday For All Educational Institutions
The Telangana government has declared holidays for all educational institutions on Thursday and Friday.
In view of the heavy rains across the state, the Telangana government on Thursday declared a two-day holiday for all educational institutions. In a tweet, Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy wrote, “Keeping in view of the heavy rainfall in the State and under the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the government has decided to declare holidays for two days to all educational institutions in the State. That is Thursday and Friday.”

On Wednesday, the Hyderabad Meteorological Department issued an orange warning for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagityal, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Karimnagar, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Siddipet districts of the state for the next two days.

On Wednesday, Dr. K. Nagaratnam, Director of the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, told ANI, "At present, the weather situation indicates that there is an upper air cyclonic circulation laying over Odisha and its adjoining areas of Northwest Bay of Bengal and West Central Bay extending up to 7.6 kilometers above mean sea level."
"During the next 24 hours, it is likely to intensify into a low-pressure system over the same area. Also, a cyclonic circulation lays over Chhattisgarh and its adjoining areas up to 1.5 kilometers above mean sea level," he added.
"Orange warnings have been issued over Telangana today (19 July) and tomorrow (20 July) along with light to moderate rain at most places," he added.
"Telangana is likely to have light to moderate rains over most places with heavy rains at one or two places, and very heavy rains likely to occur at one or two places in the north and northeast districts of Telangana," Nagaratnam added.
Almost all districts are likely to get heavy rain until Friday. In Hyderabad, light to moderate intermittent rains are likely with occasional intense spells, according to IMD.
The highest 24-hour rainfall, according to the state-run Telangana State Development Planning Society, was recorded at 18.5 cm from Zaffergadh in Jangaon district as of 7 am Thursday. In Hyderabad, the highest 24-hour rainfall of 7.3 cm was recorded at Serilimgampally, followed by 6.8 cm at Shaikpet.
