Telangana: Ex-TRS MP Spends Rs 250 Crore For Daughter's Wedding Reception, Invites 3 Lakh Guests

Several big fat weddings might have made headlines, but this wedding reception in Telangana's Khammam created buzz for the amount spent and the number of guests invited. Businessman and former Khammam MP in Lok Sabha, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, spent Rs 250 crore on his daughter, Swapni Reddy's, wedding reception slated for Wednesday.

The TRS leader invited almost three lakh guests for his daughter's wedding reception. Swapni got married in Bali, Indonesia on August 12, for which as many as 500 guests were taken for the special event.

Reddy has arranged the reception at SR Garden in Khammam which has created a buzz in the city and is touted as a 'Bahubali' gathering by people as almost three lakh guests were invited to the mega event. The reception venue has been built on 30 acres. A vehicle parking facility has been arranged on about 100 acres, in which about 60,000 cars can be parked. New flyovers and roads have been constructed to reach the venue.

It is said that Reddy has spent around Rs 250 crore for the wedding reception of her daughter Swapni. Invitations were sent to all the villages around Khammam district. Wall clocks have been presented to the people of the villages along with the invitation letters. Food has been arranged at 25 acres for the large gathering.

Food is being arranged for about three lakh people. The food will be prepared by renowned chef, G Yadamma, who recently made headlines after serving delicacies for the BJP top brass in the party executive meeting, in Hyderabad.

Big Fat Wedding

Reddy got his daughter married with great pomp earlier this month on August 12. As many as 500 people were taken on special flights for the wedding ceremony in Bali. Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is a close associate of Srinivasa Reddy and other top leaders in the state are expected to attend the wedding reception.

Srinivasa Reddy started his political journey with YSRCP and became MP of Khammam in 2014. After this, he joined the ruling party TRS in Telangana. He was the Member of the Lok Sabha from 2014-19.
