PM Modi To Address Backward Classes Meet In Hyderabad Today

'BC Atma Gourava Sabha' on Tuesday is set to respond to the criticism from Congress and BRS concerning BJP's commitment to appoint a CM from a Backward Community once they come to power in Telangana.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address BC Atma Gourava Sabha (Backward Classes Self-Repect Meeting) at the capital of poll-bound Telangana, Hyderabad, on Tuesday. The 'BC Atma Gourava Sabha' is likely to respond to the criticism from Congress and BRS concerning the BJP's commitment to appoint a Chief Minister from a Backward Community (BC) once they come to power.

Pawan Kalyan, the founder of the Janasena Party and an actor-turned-politician, will also attend the event.

Union Minister and state BJP president G Kishan Reddy said the meeting will emphasise that only the BJP can provide equal justice to backward classes.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi questioned the likelihood of the BJP appointing a Chief Minister from a backward caste, citing the party's projected low vote share. Simultaneously, the BRS criticized the saffron party for not establishing a dedicated Union Ministry for the Welfare of Backward Classes and for not initiating a caste census.

Last month, prior to the announcement of the assembly elections schedule, Prime Minister Modi spoke at public gatherings in Mahabubnagar and Nizamabad, Telangana. Subsequently, he declared the decision of the Union government to establish a national turmeric board to support turmeric farmers in Telangana, alongside the proposal to create a Central tribal university within the state.

Notably, Telangana BC Welfare Association President Jajula Srinivas Goud is among the prominent figures set to express gratitude to the PM and the party for their commitment to appoint a CM from the BC community upon being elected to power.

MLA Etela Rajender and BJP National General Secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar, both hailing from BC communities, are poised to take the lead in the BJP's efforts to attract support from BC communities.
