'Modi's Photo Not Working': Owaisi Taunts BJP Over Its Congress-BRS ‘Nikahnama’ Poster

Owaisi's jibe comes in the wake of a cartoon posted by BJP on X. The poster featured Owaisi as a Qazi (religious leader) solemnising the marriage between Congress and BRS.

New Delhi: Taunting the BJP over a ‘nikahnama’ poster showing AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi solemnizing a marriage between Congress and BRS, the former said the saffron party was resorting to his photo as the picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to make an impact in poll-bound Telangana.

“Kya main sabka dulha bhai hoon? Kya main sabka bhaijaan hoon? (Am I everyone's groom? Am I everyone’s brother?)," Owaisi said.

His jibe comes in the wake of a cartoon posted by BJP on X. The poster featured Owaisi as a Qazi (religious leader) solemnising the marriage between Congress and BRS. The caption read “Yes, it is no longer a private affair.”

Addressing a public meeting, Owaisi said, “In a cartoon, I was shown as a Qazi (religious leader) conducting the marriage of Congress and BRS. The BJP has finally got to know that PM Modi's photo is not working for them in poll-bound Telangana. They know that putting out my poster will be beneficial for them. Go ahead. Do it, as your PM Modi's photo has failed to make any impact.”

The cartoon was made in the form a wedding card and it read, “Asaduddin Owaisi invites you to the ‘Nikahnama’ of BRS and Congress! Yes, it is no longer a private affair.”

It is to be noted that AIMIM will contest in nine seats in Telangana. The party has fielded Akbaruddin Owaisi from Chandrayangutta, Mir Zulfeqar Ali from Charminar, Mohd Majid Hussain from Nampally, Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala from Malakpet, Jaffar Hussain Mehraj from Yakutpura, Belli Ravi Yadav from Rajendranagar, Kausar Mohiuddin from Karwan, Muhammad Mubeen from Bahadurpura seat and Mohammed Rashed Farazuddin, from Jubilee Hills.

Election to the 119-member Telangana Assembly will be held in a single phase on November 30. The counting of votes will be on December 3.
