Telangana CM KCR Inspects Under-Construction 4,000 MW Yadadri Power Plant, Says It Will Bring Glory To Nation

CM KCR directed to make arrangements for electricity connectivity from the Yadadri plant to all areas including Hyderabad.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said that initiatives undertaken by the Telangana government, such as the prestigious Yadadri Ultra Mega Thermal Power Project with a capacity of 4,000 MW, will bring honour to the entire country.

CM KCR inspected the construction of a power plant near Veerlapalem in the Nalgonda district's Damaracharla Mandal. He stated that initiatives like the Yadadri Thermal Power Project are done in the public sector without succumbing to corporate pressure for the benefit of the farmers and Telangana people.

The chief minister directed energy minister Jagadish Reddy, Transco and Genco Chairman and Managing Director Prabhakar Rao and BHEL officials to complete the project at the earliest. He enquired about the progress in the construction of the plant.

KCR stated that steps should be taken to ensure that the coal reserves required for the plant's operation be maintained for at least 30 days. Given the significance of the power project, authorities are advised to act proactively and make suitable decisions in the event of other operations, including coal reserves.

He directed to make arrangements for electricity connectivity from the Yadadri plant to all areas including Hyderabad. KCR enquired about the daily requirement of coal and water supply to the power plant. The chief minister suggested that arrangements should be made to supply Krishna water for the water needs of the project.

KCR said that the Damaracharla area has been selected for the power plant to employ the people of the erstwhile Nalgonda district. He ordered the construction of a township for about 10,000 employees working in the power plant.

CMD Prabhakar Rao explained to KCR that the two units will be completed by December 2023 and the remaining units will be completed by June 2024. He told the CM that the construction of the power plant has been delayed for more than a year and a half due to the Covid pandemic phase.
