Telangana Cabinet Meet: State To Mark Sept 17 As 'National Integration Day', Other Key Decisions By KCR

The cabinet decided to hold coordination meetings in every district under the leadership of ministers to resolve the land disputes.

New Delhi: Telangana state cabinet on Saturday decided to mark September 17 as the ‘Telangana National Integration Day’ on the occasion of Hyderabad completing 75 years as part of the Indian Union this year. The cabinet also decided to organise the opening ceremony of ‘Vajrotsavalu’ on September 16,17 and 18 on a grand scale across the state.

The state cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister K Chadrashekar Rao, was held for nearly three hours in Pragati Bhavan, where several issues were discussed and approved.

The plan of the three-day inaugural function of ‘Vajrotsavalu of Telangana national Integration” is as follows:

September 16: Massive rallies will be organised involving students, youth, men and women across all the headquarters of the Assembly constituencies.

September 17: Chief Minister KCR will unfurl the national flag and deliver his speech. On the same day, ministers in all district headquarters concerned, officials and public representatives in all government offices will hoist the national flag.

In the afternoon, CM KCR will inaugurate the Banjara Adivasi Bhavan in the state. Later, a huge rally will be taken out from Peoples Plaza, Necklace Road to NTR Stadium via Ambedkar statue, with cultural performances including, Gussadi Gondu Lambadi and other art forms.

Following the rally, KCR will address a public meeting that will be held at NTR Stadium near Indira Park.

September 18: Freedom fighters will be felicitated in all district headquarters. Poets and artists will be honoured, and cultural programmes will be organised that reflect the spirit of the southern state.

The cabinet also held a lengthy discussion on Podu lands issue. It decided to hold coordination meetings in every district under the leadership of ministers to resolve the land disputes. The cabinet suggested state chief secretary to take necessary measures in this regard.

On the matter of implementation of Dalit Bandhu scheme by selecting 100 beneficiaries in every Assembly constituency in the last financial year, the government decided to extend the benefit to 1500 persons in each assembly constituency this fiscal year.

As part of it, the cabinet adopted a resolution to provide the benefit to 500 eligible persons in 118 assembly constituencies in the first phase.

The Cabinet also decided to boost the number of Co-Option members in GHMC and Municipal Corporations and adopted a resolution to increase the members from 5 to 15 in the GHMC, and from 5 to 10 in other corporations.

The government decided to improve water supply system from Sunkishala to Hyderabad city and approved sanctioning of Rs 2214.79 crore for the work.

The cabinet also passed a resolution to allot land to construct district court buildings in 21 district headquarters.
