Telangana: BJP Chief Bandi Sanjay's Bail Plea Rejected, Sent To Judicial Remand For 14 Days
The Karimnagar district court on Monday rejected the bail petition of BJP State president Bandi Sanjay and sent to judicial remand for 14 days.
Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay, who was arrested for staging a protest 'Jagarana Deeksha' last night, was produced in Karimnagar court on Monday. The tribunal remanded him for 14 days.
The BJP leader was arrested for violating Covid rules by staging a protest imposed by the Centre. He staged the protest to demand that the State government revoke GO 317.
Police refused permission for protests, citing strong directives from state and central governments issued in response to the rapid spread of the Omicron version, and detained Sanjay when he attempted to do so in violation of the regulations.
It is learned that the police, who had earlier conducted medical tests on Bandi Sanjay, have registered non-bailable cases against him. Karimnagar CP Satyanarayana said he was no longer allowed to hold houses and meetings in the state. CP said that cases have also been registered against Bandi Sanjay under the Disaster Management Act, violating Covid-19 norms, attacking police and various other sections.
Tensions prevailed at Karimnagar Police Training Center as BJP activists and leaders flocked to the police training centre to protest the arrest of Bandi Sanjay. As CP also reached there, BJP activists raised slogans against the police. The police arrested them.
Meanwhile, BJP national president JP Nadda slammed the TRS government for arresting Bandi Sanjay. While narrating the whole situation, Nadda said, "This is a murder of democracy when state BJP president Mr Sanjay was peacefully protesting in his office while following all Covid protocols, police showed their brute force and arrested him."
