Rahul Gandhi Slams KCR, Says Telangana's Future Ruined By Corruption. Invites Youngsters To Join Congress

Rahul Gandhi promised to focus on education, health and employment if voted to power, adding that his party wishes to form a government of the poor people.

New Delhi: Slamming Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that when Telangana was formed, this state had a dream. But that dream has been broken by one person, KCR. Gandhi made the statement while addressing a meeting with his party leaders at PCC office in Gandhi Bhavan, Hyderabad during his visit to the southern state.

Rahul Gandhi said, “We have 2-3 goals. Telangana was made by all of us together, the dream which we saw while making Telangana, we will fulfil that dream. Will make Telangana a model state. He added, “I have clearly said that Congress will make no deal with the person who has betrayed Telangana.”

Speaking about the Warangal Declaration that he first talked about in his rally in Warangal on Friday, Gandhi said that the primary task of the Congress leaders and workers would be to explain the Warangal Declaration to the people of Telangana.

Expressing his solidarity to the farmers, the leader said that this is not just a declaration, it is a partnership between the farmers of Telangana and the grand old party.

In the meeting held to chalk out a strategy for the 2023 Assembly polls and the roadmap for the party in the state, Rahul Gandhi promised to focus on education, health and employment if voted to power, adding that his party wishes to form a government of the poor people. This government will not just be for the elected people, not for monopolists, but for every person in the southern state.

He also added that his party will provide tickets to contest elections based on merit. Those who works for the people, fights for their cause and lives among them will be given the ticket.

Taking a jibe at the RSS, Gandhi said, “Congress is a family, every member in the family has different views. While only one person imposes decisions in RSS, we want to hear everyone's voice but not in the media. If there is a complaint, then do it, speak in our internal system. If someone is speaking in the media, then he is doing damage to the Congress party. We won't accept this.”

He added, "There are many youths, leaders, old Congress workers outside the Congress party in this state, who want to believe and understand the ideology of the Congress. We should open the doors of Congress to those people."

After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi also visited the Telangana Martyrs' Memorial, which is under construction, opposite to the state Secretariat.

Earlier in the day, the Congress leader also visited the 18 National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) members, including its president Balmoor Venkat, at the Chanchalguda Central Jail. The NSUI members were arrested last week for protesting against Osmania University’s decision not to allow Gandhi visit the campus and interact with the students.

Rahul Gandhi also visited the Sanjeevaiah Park dedicated to former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Damodaram Sanjeeevaiah and paid homage to him.
