Telangana: Kavitha Questions Govt's Decision To Invite Priyanka Gandhi For Launch Of Rs 500 Gas Cylinder Scheme
BRS MLC Kavitha stated that if Priyanka Gandhi was invited to government events her party would protest by releasing black balloons.
BRS leader K Kavitha criticised Telangana Chief Minister's invite to Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to launch the Congress-led Telangana government's Rs 500 gas cylinder scheme. The daughter of former Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, Kavitha, questioned the capacity of Priyanka Gandhi to be invited to the event.
While addressing reporters, BRS MLC asked, "Has she (Priyanka Gandhi Vadra) won even as a sarpanch in any village in the country or as MLA or as MLC? Does she have any (government) protocol in our state?"
She stated that if Vadra was invited to government events, her party would protest by releasing black balloons, according to a report on PTI.
In a veiled reference to MLAs from the ruling JMM-led alliance in Jharkhand staying in Hyderabad, Kavitha questioned the appropriateness of public money being spent as a minister escorted the MLAs to a luxury resort in Hyderabad ahead of the trust vote for Champai Soren government.
During a public meeting in Indervelly, Adilabad district, Revanth Reddy on Friday mentioned that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would be invited to launch the Congress' electoral promise of providing LPG cylinders to the poor at Rs 500.
Earlier, amidst the excitement stirred by the Congress party's poll promise to provide an LPG cylinder at Rs 500, Telangana Food and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy reassured the people that the party would fulfill this promise within 100 days. Speaking to the media after a departmental review meeting in December, Reddy reiterated the commitment to implement the promises of a gas cylinder at Rs 500 and a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal of paddy, both integral components of the Congress's six guarantees, within 100 days.
Telangana Congress formed government in December 2023 by defeating the BRS party led by K Chandrasekhar Rao.
