X Down: Elon Musk's Microblogging Platform Faces Outage Across India
X Outage: The platform appears to be down across multiple cities, including the likes of Delhi, Mumbai, and more.
X Down: Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter) experienced a widespread outage on Thursday, commencing around 10:41 am. This incident marks yet another in a series of interruptions this year that have plagued the popular microblogging service. During the downtime, X stopped working completely, with users unable to post tweets or even open pages.
As per Downdetector, at the time of writing, about 149 users across India reported issues with X (screenshot below).
According to the outage trackers's Live Outage map (screenshot below), users were found to be reporting issues with X from across India, with hotspots in cities such as Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Cuttack, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and others.
A quick check across Downdetector's global pages showed that X appeared to be working fine in other locations such as the US, UK, Australia, and others.
The last time X faced a major outage was in December 2023, when the platform went down for users across the globe. While X didn't offer any explanation why the downtime was caused, services were resumed within hours.
It's safe to speculate that X might resume services soon, as has been the case earlier.
X's rival Meta faced an outage last month, as Instagram went down across the globe. While users took to X at the time to express their frustration with hilarious memes, Elon Musk joined in as well with a snarky tweet:
The outage dealt a severe blow to Mark Zuckerberg's Meta, not only in terms of user engagement but also financially, with experts highlighting the company's substantial losses. Meta saw its market value drop by 1.5 per cent due to outage issues affecting a portion of its 3.98 billion global users across its social media platforms. This decline amounted to a staggering $18 billion loss.
Meta Spokesperson Andy Stone later tweeted that the outage was caused due to a "technical issue" and that it was "resolved as quickly as possible."
