Twitter is delaying the launch of its new paid Application Programming Interface (API) by a few more days, the company has announced. The Elon Musk-owned company made the announcement on Twitter via its Twitter Dev account. Twitter, after announcing shutting down free access to the API had said that it will charge $100 per month for the basic tier of API. Initially, the company had planned to shut down free access to its API on February 9, but then it was extended to February 13.

"There has been an immense amount of enthusiasm for the upcoming changes with Twitter API. As part of our efforts to create an optimal experience for the developer community, we will be delaying the launch of our new API platform by a few more days. More information to follow over the coming days. Thank you for your continued interest and patience," Twitter Dev tweeted.

Last week, the micro-blogging platform said that it will charge $100 per month for the basic tier of API. The company also said that it will provide a free write-only API that is good for posting 1,500 tweets a month.

Meanwhile, activists recently gathered outside Twitter headquarters in San Fransisco to protest against the company's owner Elon Musk's move to layoffs thousands of Twitter employees.

Performers at the event include the Angry Tired Teachers Band, a pro-labour group whose playlists include selections like "(I Can't Get No) Contract Satisfaction." Kong Knight, a muralist and former Hayward high school teacher, will present a painting depicting Musk on a one-way trip to Mars, says a report by CBS News.

Zeltzer was quoted as saying that the event is in support of both the laid-off workers and those who remain at Twitter.
