Samsung To Re-Enter Laptop Business In India After A Gap Of 6 Years

South Korean tech giant Samsung is eyeing the laptop market in India after a hiatus of six years and is mulling to unveil six new products in the country.

New Delhi: South Korean tech giant Samsung is eyeing the laptop market in India after a hiatus of six years and is mulling to unveil six new products in the country. The company which has a strong presence in the Indian smartphone market is aiming at a strong double-digit market share in the segment by the end of the year, the media has reported.

Samsung is aiming to disrupt and enter the market in a very big way, according to a report published in The Economic Times, the upcoming range of Samsung laptops will be targeted at enterprises, students and those who seek flagship experience, thus, indicating that some of the Samsung laptops will be high-end ones. The company will unveil six laptops at an event on March 17. 

The South Korean tech major's range of laptops is likely to belong to the thin and convertible category as Sandeep Poswal, General Manager and Head, New Computing Business mentioned that ultra-thin laptops comprise about 80 per cent of the market and that Samsung expects a strong demand in this category too. According to the top Samsung executive, the laptops will feature WiFi 6E and LPDDR5 RAM as well as MS Office out of the box.   

The company will unveil six laptops this week that will be priced between Rs 40,000-Rs 1,20,000. Samsung's portfolio of laptops will include the flagship Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 along with Book2 Pro, Book2 , Book2 360, Galaxy Book Go for students and Galaxy Book 2 Business for Enterprises, The Economic Times report added.

The company has recently unveiled its flagship Galaxy S series in India that comprises the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the Galaxy S22+ and the vanilla Galaxy S22.
