New Delhi: During its “California Streaming" event, Apple confirmed that the major update of their operating system, iOS 15 will be available for download on September 20.

Besides the iOS 15 Apple update, it also announced iPad OS 15 software update for the company’s flagship tablets. The iPad will get a complete home screen overhaul and multitasking will be made smoother and more user-friendly.

New Features In iOS 15

The software updates offer several new features for iPhones. Apple has added new FaceTime features which, for the first time, allows Android and PC users to participate, and iMessage improvements that make it easier to track links and photos your friends have sent, similar to what WhatsApp offers.

iOS 15 allows the user to invite Android and Windows users through FaceTime. Besides that, conversations will feel more natural because of the Spatial Audio feature.

The Wide Spectrum feature will leave the ambient sound unfiltered, while Voice Isolation minimises background noise. A section named Shared with You has been introduced, where the content shared in Messages will be stored.

A new set of features provided by the iOS 15 upgrade enables users to control their way of prioritising time and attention. The new 'Focus' mode is one of the biggest changes of iOS 15, as users can choose from a list of Focus options, and decide which notifications they want to allow. The user's status will be automatically displayed in communication apps while using Focus.

The users will now be able to add live text in photos. The feature also works in the Camera app.

The company has focused on Privacy, allowing users to decide how apps will access their data. The feature protects the users from unwanted data collection and gives them more control over what they choose to share, said Apple.
