Google Pixel Tablet 2 Leaks: The Next-Gen Tablet Might Feature Tensor G5 Chipset & Improved Camera

As per reports, Google is planning to equip the upcoming Pixel Tablet 2 with either the Tensor G4 or G5 chipset.

Google introduced its inaugural Pixel Tablet in 2023, but it struggled to keep pace with high-end competitors from brands like OnePlus and Samsung. The first model primarily aimed to function as a dockable home screen, and came bundled with a speaker dock to enhance its usability. However, it appears that Google is preparing to take a new approach with the upcoming Pixel Tablet 2, possibly offering a refreshed design and features to better compete in the tablet market.

Google Pixel Tablet 2: Specifications, Features (Expected)

According to a report from Android Authority, citing an unnamed insider, Google is planning to equip the upcoming Pixel Tablet 2 with either the Tensor G4 or G5 chipset. This upgrade is expected to provide a significant performance boost, improving the device by over 30 per cent compared to the original Pixel Tablet, which was powered by the Tensor G2 SoC. This would bring a noticeable improvement to the device’s speed and overall capabilities, catering to users looking for more robust performance.

Additionally, the Pixel Tablet 2 is anticipated to benefit from an impressive seven years of software support, ensuring that the tablet will receive continuous updates and security patches over time, making it a long-term investment.

Beyond performance improvements, Google is reportedly working on a new keyboard cover prototype for the Pixel Tablet 2. This cover will attach securely to the tablet using rear pogo pins and will also double as a stand, allowing users to easily prop the tablet up in landscape mode for more comfortable viewing or typing. The Pixel Tablet 2 is also rumoured to feature a significantly upgraded camera, likely offering an improved sensor that surpasses the 8MP camera seen in the 2023 model.

Additionally, there could be a new stylus introduced, enhancing the tablet’s versatility and appeal. Although there has been no official confirmation regarding the launch date, the Pixel Tablet 2 is expected to make its debut sometime in 2025. The device is likely to run on Android 15, but there’s also a possibility it could be launched with Android 16, depending on Google’s release schedule and timing.
