According to IDC's Jeronimo, Google's sales have been growing double digits in the last years and the tech giant sold nearly 10 million devices last year.
Google Pixel devices may not be among the highest-sold phones globally. Still, the brand has hit a significant milestone and sold 40 million handsets so far with 10 million Pixel phones being sold last year alone. As per Francisco Jeronimo, VP of IDC, the tech giant has shipped almost 37.9 million Pixel devices between 2016 and 2023. The numbers taken into account are from 2016 when Google started selling smartphones under the new brand name Pixel after doing away with the Nexus lineup.
Google's Pixel shipments are still short of Apple's estimated shipments. The Cupertino, California-headquartered tech giant is said to ship over 224 million iPhones per year and it is steadily moving up. According to IDC's Jeronimo, Google's sales have been growing double digits in the last years and the tech giant sold nearly 10 million devices last year.

It is pertinent to note that Google Pixel devices are a hit in Japan and the line has outpaced all other smartphone players in the country, according to Counterpoint Research's recent report.
The market intelligence firm noted that Google Pixel shipments jumped 67 per cent worldwide year-over-year (YoY) coming into Q1 2023, largely on the back of the robust sales of the Pixel 6a, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, amid a declining smartphone market. The launch of the Pixel 7a witnessed a 74 per cent increase in cumulative sales during its first three weeks when compared to its predecessor, which is an indicator of the growing positive response to the Pixel lineup in Japan.

The main drivers of the Pixel 7a’s success were attributed Tensor G2 processor, camera performance and RAM. The Pixel 7a’s specs are comparable to the flagship Pixel 7 series, but the device comes at a roughly 24 per cent lower price. Furthermore, the Japanese market’s preference for smaller screen sizes has significantly influenced the strong sales of the Pixel 7a, the Counterpoint report highlighted.
Meanwhile, the Google Pixel 8 Pro and Google Pixel 8 have been just unveiled. The Pixel 8 line has been unveiled at the company's Made by Google event and both the devices are available for pre-orders in India. The Pixel 8 series will start retailing later this month. Both models will be available on e-commerce platform Flipkart. The Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 come with camera upgrades, but with old design language.
