Seems like the much-awaited Google Pixel 6a is set to be launched in India sooner than expected. The tech giant is apparently busy prepping for the launch of the much-awaited Google Pixel 6a in India on July 21 (Thursday), suggests a new leak, and the smartphone would be priced below Rs 40,000 in the country.

Originally unveiled at the tech giant’s annual I/O 2022 Developers Conference, the Pixel 6a was confirmed to launch in India. However, there has been no official word from Google on the launch date. Some leaks in the past few days also suggest that Pixel 6a units have been silently imported into the country, thus, indicating an imminent announcement.

The latest leak on Twitter claims that the Google Pixel 6a would be officially announced in India on July 21 which is tomorrow at a virtual event. More details on that are expected in the next few hours. The tipster also added that the Google Pixel 6a will have a box price of Rs 43,999 in the country, but the actual cost could be around Rs 37,000. The device costs $449 in the US which roughly translates into Rs 35,000. The Pixel 6a will compete with the likes of the newly-launched Nothing Phone 1 and the iQoo Neo 6 among others.

Pixel 6a expected specs and features

The Pixel a-series smartphones follow the same design trend similar to Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro with a raised horizontal camera bump, and a two-tone body. The Pixel 6a comes with a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate. It has a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout on the top for the front camera, while the rear gets a horizontally aligned camera bar spanning across the breadth, just like the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

In terms of imaging, the rear camera setup comprises a 12.2 MP + 12 MP dual main camera. The software-based camera features include Magic Eraser and Nightsight come as add-ons. There would be a proprietary Tensor chipset powering the device and 6GB of RAM with 128GB of onboard storage. The device could have a 4306mAh battery supported with 18W fast charging.

Meanwhile, the Google Pixel Buds Pro is set to be officially unveiled in India on July 28, Google, while replying to a user’s query on Facebook, said recently. Google had mentioned that the Pixel Buds Pro will go on pre-orders in the country on July 21 (tomorrow). As per the tech giant's post, the Google Pixel Buds Pro will be made available starting July 28. The Pixel Buds Pro is Google's answer to the Apple AirPods Pro.
