Fitbit To Do Away With Google Sign-In Support Soon. Know Everything

Fitbit is sending a warning message on its account login page to users trying to sign in to fitbit.com, which says that the ability to sign in using Google account and password is being removed.

Fitbit is bidding adieu to Google sign-in. Yes, the werables major has started sending a warning message on its account login page to users trying to sign in to fitbit.com, which says that the ability to sign in using Google account and password is being removed. The company is working towards providing users an "improved experience."

According to Fitbit's sign-in page, users are being getting this message: “We are removing the option to log in to your account on fitbit.com with your Google credentials to support an improved experience coming soon.” No hard date for when this will occur is provided.

"To prepare for this removal, be sure you know the email address and password you use for Fitbit. If you don’t know your password, click Forgot Password. For more information about your Fitbit account, including how to find and change your email address, see our help article," Fitbit's page added.

Earlier in September, there were reports that Fitbit is likely to introduce changes to Fitbit accounts. According to a report by XDA Developers, the wearables major had  announced that it would discontinue Fitbit accounts in 2025. It should be noted that "Continue with Google" is different using a Google account to sign in.

Additionally, Fitbit wants all users to be aware of their email address and password, which is already required by the Android and iOS apps. This change is in service of Fitbit accounts being replaced by standard Google Accounts, so there will no longer be two different systems. A Google Account will be needed to access new features and set up devices, though users will be able to stick with existing Fitbit accounts until 2025, says a report by 9to5Google.

Meanwhile, Google-owned Fitbit rolled out the first software update with bug fixes and new features for the Fitbit Sense 2 and Fitbit Versa 4 last month. The new smartwatches from Fitbit were launched globally in mid-2022 and they got new features with the most notable one being on-wrist incoming phone calls from the paired smartphone and with a hand gesture, the display can be turned off.

To recall, the Fitbit Sense 2 was unveiled in India in September and is priced at Rs 24,999 and it is a premium health-tracking smartwatch in the new Fitbit lineup. The smartwatch is an upgrade to the Fitbit Sense and comes with sensors that can detect signs of atrial fibrillation via the ECG app and PPG algorithm which have been cleared by FDA marked by CE, for tracking heart health.

The Fitbit Versa 4 has been priced at Rs 20,499 in the country and it is quite similar to the Sense 2 albeit without an ECG sensor. The Versa 4 comes with more than 40 exercise modes, built-in GPS, Active Zone Minutes and real-time stats. It also has premium features such as "Daily Readiness Score" that should help in tracking activity goals. The Versa 4 also comes with six days of battery life.
