CES 2022: Fossil Announces Amazon Alexa Assistant Will Be Added To Its Smartwatches Soon

Fossil has announced that it would add Amazon Alexa to its Gen 6 smartwatches.

New Delhi: Fossil has announced that it would add Amazon Alexa to its Gen 6 smartwatches. Making the announcement at CES 2022 in Las Vegas, the company also mentioned that Alexa addition would happen "soon". The company also unveiled the Skagen Falster Gen 6 and the Fossil x Razer smartwatches at the CES.

According to a report published in 9to5Google, Fossil has mentioned in a statement that the Alexa app will be available for its smartwatches during the first half of this year. Initially, the Alexa app feature would only work on Fossil’s latest Gen 6 smartwatches that include the Fossil Gen 6, Skagen Falster Gen 6, and the Fossil x Razer watch. However, the company did not make it clear if the feature will be rolled out to older smartwatches.

Adding smart assistants to smartwatches is increasingly becoming common for brands, thanks to the utility they offer. However, buyers can't choose as to which voice assistant comes equipped with their smartwatch. Currently, Apple Watches come equipped with Siri-only and Wear OS watches are currently tied to Google Assistant-only. When it comes to Samsung, it prefers adding its proprietary assistant Bixby onto the Galaxy Watch lineup.

Meanwhile, the two smartwatches launched at CES 2022 are Razer X Fossil Gen 6 that will retail for $329 or roughly Rs 24,500. It will be available starting January 10 via the company's website, Razer's website, Gamestop, and select retail stores. According to Fossil, the Razer will be limited to 1,337 units only and it will be available in Black case along with Black and Green 22mm silicone straps.

The second smartwatch launched is the Skagen Falster Gen 6 that costs $295 or roughly Rs 21,900 and it is available on the company's official website. It is available in five colour options: Charcoal, Espresso, Black, Rose Gold, and Silver.
