On Saturday, a four-storied building along with its attic collapsed in the Dhami area in Shimla, impacting the road leading to a government college and disrupting traffic flow, according to officials. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported as all residents had been evacuated beforehand, and the building's electric connections were disconnected, officials confirmed, according to a report on PTI.
The incident occurred around noon in Marahwag village's 16-mile area. The house, owned by one Raj Kumar, was sinking and the base columns of the building had developed cracks, the officials said. To avert potential harm to life and property, the building was evacuated in anticipation of the collapse.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (Rural) Nishant said the building collapsed due to excavation work in the hilly area above this house.
