Virudhunagar Rape Case: Four Accused Booked Under Goondas Act

Based on the recommendation of CB-CID, district Collector Meghanath Reddy on Thursday ordered the police to book four persons under Goondas Act.

Chennai: Four accused, including two DMK functionaries in the sexual assault case of a 22-year-old Dalit woman in Virudhunagar, were booked under Goondas Act on Thursday.

Based on the recommendation of CB-CID, district Collector Meghanath Reddy on Thursday ordered the police to book four persons including Hariharan (a) Saravanan, Madasamy, Praveen and Junaith Ahamed under Goondas Act, said a report on ABP Nadu.

In March, eight persons including four minors and two DMK members were arrested for sexually assaulting, filming and threatening a 22-year-old Dalit woman for over a year in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu.

A Dalit Christian woman entered a relationship with Hariharan Mahendran, who was running a small dairy shop. Later, he took the woman to a secluded place and forced her to have sex with him. He also filmed a video of the act.

Hariharan then shared it with his friends and all of them started to threaten the woman with the video. Multiple men also sought sexual favours until the woman filed a police complaint in March.
