TN CM Stalin Writes To Governor RN Ravi Urging Him To Swiftly Send NEET Bill For President’s Assent

Stalin said, "I'm pained to note that despite our repeated efforts to impress upon your good selves on urgency and sensitivity of matter, this issue is evoking no positive response from your side."

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his dismay over the impasse on NEET Bill to Governor Ravi and urged him to swiftly send the Bill to the Centre for his assent.

In February 2022, Tamil Nadu government readopted NEET Bill and sent it to Governor for receiving President's assent.

On the impasse, TN CM Stalin in a letter to Governor on Thursday said, "You may recall that during our last meeting, you have assured us that this process will be expedited, but I am pained to note that the Bill is yet to be transmitted to the Government of India."

"As you may be aware, the admission process for the medical courses for the next academic year is to commence shortly and there is tremendous anxiety and uncertainty among the aspiring students and their parents in the State. Given this situation, I am sure that you would appreciate our sense of disappointment and dismay at this juncture over the impasse," he said.

Further, Stalin said, "I am pained to note that despite our repeated efforts to impress upon your good selves on the urgency and sensitivity of the matter, this issue is evoking no positive response from your side."

The letter of TN CM Stalin comes on the same day as Tamil Nadu government announced to boycott tea party hosted by TN Governor Ravi on Thursday. TN Minister Thangam Thennarasu announcing the same said, “The decision of the government comes since the Governor did not keep in mind the emotions of Tamil Nadu people and even failed to respect the state Assembly. It’s disappointing for us.”
